I was born in Australia and raised in Iowa. I discovered my love for design when I FINALLY got my own room as a teeenager. (In the basement. No windows. NOT ideal.) I was elated to finally hang things on the wall that were all about ME. (Mostly Ralph Macchio.) My dad was a great organizer and decorator and he was constantly building shelving or rearranging the furniture. (Or raking the shag carpet. But I digress.) I met my fantastic (read- patient) husband in college and I earned my BA in elementary education. We moved to Denver in 2000 and my two amazing kiddos joined the crazy. When I wasn’t “momming” or teaching first grade, I was decorating our home. After years of designing spaces for us, I began doing design work for others. I am especially proud of my ability to transform roadside finds and discovering incredible deals on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Home Goods.
I believe that great design is accessible to absolutely everyone. You don’t need a huge income. Just a creative designer with a good eye. I’m also borderline obsessed (Ok. There really is no border.) with organization. I’m passionate about developing systems that work for everyone. And those systems need to match their owner’s needs. Oh. I also LOVE color. And pattern. And textures. Soooooo, I met Katie when we were both teaching dance. We’ve been friends for over fifteen years and we’ve both been doing design work for friends, family, and now clients for many years. We’ve dreamed of joining forces (like the super heroes that we are) and finally decided that THE TIME HAD COME. Make the Room was born. (Much less painful than childbirth.) When I’m not designing, I’m creating curated gift boxes or photographing families and high school seniors. I love to shop, drink beer on a patio, and hang out with my hubby while chasing my crazy dog.

I am a Colorado native. I am lucky enough to be married to my high school sweetheart and we have two fantastic daughters that fill our home with books, dress up clothes, and chaos. I love it all. I began my journey in design when I remodeled my own first home. And two homes after that. I dabbled in event/wedding planning for friends and family. Those closest to me (and strangers at parties) encouraged me to pursue my gifts. Friends and family were raving and began reaching out to have me help them with their own spaces and events. After working in the industry doing design and staging, I took the leap and started my own business with my dear friend, Jen. She’s the yin to my yang, the mac to my cheese, the peanut butter to my jelly. Can you tell we have a blast together with our clients, yet?
I believe that everyone deserves a space to call home that reflects their personality, style, and passions. I want to make design accessible to ALL. You don’t have to be a ka-trillionaire (It’s a number, believe me) to have a beautiful space. It’s never too late to pursue a passion and I feel privileged to chase this dream. When I’m not creating for my clients, you can find me enjoying the outdoors with my family. A day of hiking that ends on a patio with live music and a glass of wine in hand is my favorite pastime.
